Pure Love for Essential Oils

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but it’s nature’s unassuming little packages that will truly make you look and feel like a million bucks.

Through the ages, avocado oil has been prized for its healing and regenerative properties. Early Egyptians believed that rubbing avocado into the hair would moisturize dry or damaged hair. The oil penetrates deep into skin and muscle tissue, nourishing, softening and soothing as it is absorbed. Beneficial for dry, red or itchy skin and conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis, avocado oil revitalizes skin and can be used to treat sun damage. It also helps to block ultra-violet rays and can boost protection when applied before sunscreen. We love Absolute Essential’s virgin, organic, cold-pressed olive oil from New Zealand.

Better yet, pair it with the label’s organic, distilled true lavender, lavender sweet (for a gentler lavender scent), or lavender spike (which has a more camphor-like scent which helps as a decongestant and has antiseptic properties). Lavender, a herb of love, has been widely used for over 2,500 years for it’s soothing, relaxing qualities, and it assists the skin’s natural healing and regeneration processes. It is an exceptional natural healer. Absolute Essential’s selection of lavender is gentle enough to be applied directly to the skin. Lavender is also used in John Masters Organics’ Sea Mist—a sea salt spray that gives you those full, I-just-spent-the-day-at-the-beach tresses every day—to protect the hair shaft, normalize scalp conditions and slow down hair loss. Sea salt in the lavender mist gives your hair texture and added oomph. Safe even for colour-treated hair, this Sea Mist with lavender makes every day feel like a day at the beach. What’s there not to love in that?

Olive oil is another natural ingredient that has been used to moisturize and rejuvenate damaged skin since ancient times. High in vitamins A, D, E and K, olive oil helps inhibit the effects of free radicals and the stresses of aging. Adding it to a bath helps moisturize the entire body, a few drops of it on a cotton pad makes for a natural eye makeup remover, and it’s a great hair conditioner. Other than having moisturizing properties, olive oil helps promote scalp health and prevents dandruff. For some extra special, tender loving care, try Simply Organic’s Scalp Spa Treatment which contains olive oil, olive leaf extract and papaya. It naturally exfoliates and rejuvenates the scalp while softening and restoring dry hair.

To treat eczema and other skin conditions, calendula (also known as marigold) is also an excellent salve. It reduces inflammation; is used as an antiseptic; and can soothe mild burns, boils, sores, and everyday cuts and grazes. We recommend Weleda’s Calendula Soap that provides gentle, daily cleansing for sensitive skin. Containing both calendula and chamomile, it helps maintain the skin’s natural moisture balance and is even suitable for babies and children.

For bruises, soft tissue injuries and muscular pain, arnica is fabulous for promoting healing and speeds up the repair mechanism. Weleda’s Arnica Massage Balm, a wonderfully aromatic dark gold liquid, is excellent for massaging into the affected area (but should not be used on open wounds) for warmth and relief from pain. For little bumps and aches, this Arnica Massage Balm is Mother Nature’s kiss of wellness.

Don’t forget to gift yourself and your loved ones with nature’s salves and balms.
